Letter from Donald Watson, CEO
After 40 years serving within the Credit Union, Donald B. Watson will retire at the end of December, 2022.
I have had the wonderful opportunity of representing you as a board member, board chairman and a branch manager in Gunnison and surrounding areas. In 2013, I was hired as the President/CEO of Utah Heritage Credit Union.
My first memory was Mar Dye as President working in the offices owned by Moroni Feed Company. Everything was on hand written ledgers and credit committees meeting to fund loans each week. Mar often made the statement that taught me a valuable lesson. “You cannot borrow yourself out of debt.” When I attended by first meeting as a board member, assets were around $3,000,000. As of the end of June, Utah Heritage Credit Union was just under $125,000,000 in assets and is a strong financial institution that can help you with all of your financial needs.
I would like to thank each of you as members, board members, supervisory committee members and the best employees that one could ask for. I would also like to thank those pioneers that saw the need for a Credit Union in this area in 1969, to all those who have helped and especially Ilene Rollo, past President/CEO, for building a foundation for this Credit Union to grow.
I will always cherish the relationships and friendships that have been built and for the opportunity to help you with your financial needs. In the next few weeks, stop in and visit. You can be proud of your local Utah Heritage Credit Union. I leave knowing UHCU has a strong foundation that has been built by many over the years, excellent leadership and management to guide the future and most importantly you as members to help it grow.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart and with a smile on my face, I am looking forward to retirement.
